How do I reprogram one of the 10 standard device buttons to operate a different kind of device? I want to change the cable and tape devices to operate other DirecTV receivers that I own.

You can reassign any of the devices on the MX-500 to another device. Just change the LCD labels and learn to the buttons for your other DirecTv receivers. The only caveat is that when you use preprogrammed codes, you must pick the original location of the device button when asked where the preprogrammed codes are coming from.
