What do you put on the buttons of the MX700's Main page as it doesn't show a device?

That's a good question, Jim. Other than punch-thru for the amp volume I havn't programmed them. The software appears to allow them to be set up though.
I guess you could keep running your favorite device when going to main to look around. Anyone else?

I put shortcuts to the main preamp controls - menu navigation, soundfield selection, etc. plus shortcuts to the TV aspect-ratio and picture mode controls. Oh, and main lighting on/off.

Everybody's needs will obviously be different, but some things seem like they should naturally be there.

A list of all your devices is the most obvious, taking you to each of their main controls.

On mine, I've got punch-throughs to processor related functions for volume and mute.

I also put in shortcuts on certain buttons for navigation of my DSS/TIVO device. That way, when I go into FAV mode, I can bring up the guide, hit a FAV button, watch as the corresponding channel numbers are automatically entered and the guide changes, but then I can still navigate the guide as necessary, choosing whatever.

This allows me to use the FAV channel functions two ways - a straight channel choice moving me directly to that station, or in conjunction with the guide, to scan what's on.

Finally, when I get the discrete codes that I need, I want to program a few basic activities - like movie, TV, and CD - which will turn on all necessary devices and set the whole system for that activity.

Pretty simple, but I figure the longer I have it the more creative I'll become with the programing.
