I loaded the builtin codes for my VCR (JVC S9500) and did not like how they set up the OK and OSD buttons, they got them in the wrong places IMHO.

So, I can delete the IR code using the bix red X button on the "Edit and Label Buttons" dialog but the box where you name the button remains grayed out.

So, how do you keep the buttons you want from the database and delete the ones you don't AND rename them too?

Also, how do I copy hard buttons around? I'd like to swap two buttons, is there a way to do this? I'm sifting through the manual and it's not evident. But it's getting late so maybe I'm just missing it.

1) Use the "3. LCD Button Editor" to move your labels along with the corresponding IR codes.

2) Just use shortcuts. Pick a button, then use the drop down IR code box, and choose the code you want, which in this case would be the code from the other button.

Do the same in reverse for the second button.

Little shortcut icons will show up on the buttons, and obviously the labels won't change on the remote, but it will accomplish what you are looking for.

This solution does not work for the NON LCD buttons. They have custom names too that appear when you load a device from the IR database. Those names cannot be edited.

My workaround was to create a second copy of the device, hide it and all of it's pages (you'll need to give the copy a slightly different name.) Then make all of your non-LCD shortcuts point back to the copy. You can then delete any button on the original device and still have all of the original codes available on the copy. I did this with my Denon receiver.

(Of course, you can learn all of the deleted codes to regain the ones you deleted. But it sounds like you are kinda thinking the same as I did. I wanted to use the database!)
