I am having a problem controlling a Sony CD player using an MX500 and an IR repeater (which reads the signal from the remote and reproduces it in a cupboard where I keep the player). The CD player responds to my signals less than 10% of the time.
I am confused because :
1) The repeater definitely works with the MX500, as I use it for the rest of my equipment.
2) The repeater definitely works with the CD player's standard remote control, as I can control the player via the repeater using the standard remote.
3) The MX500 definitely works with the CD player, as I can control the player directly with the MX500.
So why can't I use the MX500 AND the repeater ? This makes no sense to me. Please help.
(If it helps, the Sony CD player is CDP-C50M and it's remote is RM-D55...but it is very old so these numbers are probably meaningless.)
Thanks,
Anthony

So, any combination other than using hte MX-500 through the repeater to control your Sony CD player works? What happens if you press the MX-500 buttons several times, or hold them down? Randy www.BlueDo.com

It happens to me too and I think the MX500 is more sensitve to stray RF fields, impacting the xmission.

Are you using stick-on flashers, if so check its location. Check the upper right corner.

Answer to Randy: Several presses or holding the button does not help.
Answer to John: I assume you are referring to the IR emitters that are stuck on the player's IR receiver. I am sure they are in the right place as the regular remote is working through the repeater. Or have I misunderstood your question ?
Thanks.

I am using an IR stick on repeater on a Kenwood reciever without any problem. At first it did not work well so I had to adjust where I stuck it on. Since I moved it, works like a charm.

You assumed correctly, I was referring to the IR emitter. I have had similar problems with a few SONY CD players, and more times than I would like to admit, the emitter needed to be adjusted (location).
