I don't even have my unit yet, but have read the manual and am using the PC side app.
The only suggestion I have is : longer button labels on the LCD. Comming up with wacky abbreviations is annoying and there's plenty of room across the top for more descriptive device names.
The IR database is a bit thin it seem if the app is any indication.

If you hold the MX-700 in the right light, you'll notice that the LCD is a little darker in the areas where the text goes. These are the only places where text can be written. Only 5 characters will fit.
The LCD, PC board, etc. have been designed around a 5 character limit, the same as the MX-500.
One workaround people have used is to start the word(s) on the left side and finish it on the right, with the same IR code on both buttons.
Such as:
DENON RCVR OPEN DRAPE etc.
With the MX-500 you could right-justify the left word, and left-justify the right word, to make the word almost come together, such as:
DRAP ERY RECEI VER
This is a feature that has been requested on the 700 - justification of the labels.
And yes, the IR database needs work, but you'll see that improved as people send in their MXD files, and URC adds those files to the MX Editor database.

But for heaven's sake -- PLEASE add the ability to input Pronto hex codes! I don't want to have to go through the sloppy procedure of transferring to Pronto, learning to MX-700, then uploading to computer!
The process of building their IR database would be VASTLY accelerated if we could manually paste in the hex code.

Pasting in hex codes is a feature that has been requested long ago. It would be a nice additon.
Does the RTI T2 allow you to paste in Pronto hex codes?
Are these hex codes even Pronto-based or are they generic hex codes that any remote should be able to use to build an IR code output.
... Greg :-)

Does the RTI T2 allow you to paste in Pronto hex codes? yes and others (other RTI remotes, Xantech URC-2,....) Are these hex codes even Pronto-based or are they generic hex codes that any remote should be able to use to build an IR code output. the info is not Pronto based, but how it is "saved" is. Actually the Pronto Neo does not even use the same format (dumb idea if you ask me).

Also, some PDA remote software can important Pronto hex codes.
So, the hex codes saved in the format that the Pronto uses is somewhat of a standard in the industry.
Would that be a fair statement?

... Greg :-) I think it would be. I also think that in the near future, someone will 'crack' the MX-700 code and create a Pronto -> MXD conversion program!

I think the idea was that since there was a) large DB of CCF b) good doc on Pronto HEX format c) easy to understand "might as well take advantage of it, and make it easier for our users to find the codes they need"

I guess my suggstion was really meant for a MX700 followup device.
The remote get's here tomorrow. The PC side of things is pretty good, but the programming app for my IRIQ (which I don't really like) is a bit more intuitive.

Greg, which PDA software can import Pronto codes? I was looking for this a year or two ago but couldn't find any.

Peter: I don't know about others, but TV remote controller 3.1 can import CCFs (not just the codes), and the CCF route is the only way to change from the default drawings.

ORDesktop can import Pronto hex codes. Just go to ORDesktop and download the program for a free trial. It is the ProntoEdit of the OmniRemote software for the Palm PDA. ... Greg :-)
