I have tried doing this in the MX-Editor, but could not figure it out:

1. Can you insert one or more leading spaces in front of a button label to change its position?

2. Can you use special characters in a label for e.g. , or UP^ and DOWNv?

Thx..

Hi Arjen,

From what I've seen, you need to enter a character before you can enter a space that will register. Therefore you can position a label on the right side of the screen where you want, but the ones on the left side are all left-aligned.

Someone mentioned in another thread recently that the special characters that are available with the MX-500, are not in MX Editor. I know I haven't found any. I imagine both things could be easily remedied in the near future.

Thanks Mike. Not a dealbreaker, but like you said, two easy enhancements for a next release.

1. I notice if you go to the LCD Button Editor you can attempt to add spaces in front, and it does get reflected in the device name, but it doesn't seem to display properly on the emulator -- however might it work on the actual remote? (Haven't tried).

In both the "Create & Name Devices" and the "LCD Button Editor" the software allows you to insert a space at the beginning of a label, however that space is not downloaded to the remote.

This is something that would be nice to change, since even the manual for the software shows a device page with the labels being used for instructions to the user, which would look much better lef-justified on the right side of the device page.

Something to submit as a feature upgrade.

... Greg :-)

What's odd is that it will accept spaces after a character's been entered, that will show up on the downloaded display. So you can left-justify the right column of the page, but you can't right-justify the left column because you have to enter a space first to do it.

I also tried copying and pasting special characters from Word to the LCD Button Editor, but it will only accept the text. Any other characters appear as a vertical bar.

As Arjen said, not a deal breaker though. Also, kudos to Eric and whoever else was involved with creating the software manual. It's probably the best I've seen for any electronic device. :-)
