I received the Mx-700 today from SRC and I am programming it now. It looks like the near-term internet price will be around $350, although I paid slightly more because I wanted to support SRC or BlueDo for being active on these forums.

It appears that a couple of hours of work will do the setting up job, even though some of my equipment is not in the IR database. This of course will be an improvement on the 40-plus hours I needed with the MX-1000.

My very first initial impressions right out of the box is that these are a couple of classy remotes! The greyish color is very rich-looking and even the little mx-200 feels good in your hand. I look forward to getting these babies up and running tomorrow.

Nope!

(Oops ... sorry, wrong forum, wrong thread) ;-)

Have fun, Ken!

You mean this isn't the The Word Association Thread?

I still think the champagne pearl-coat was classier, yet a similar shade.

How are they shipped? I originally thought they were sold in bulk packages of 3 with 1 cable. Hopefully the manufacturer is packaging them in singles. Just wondering, thanks.

They are shipped in bulk packages of three with only one cable. Resellers can either sell them without a cable or add one of their own.

Mine is on the way. I will read the manual tonight, but I have a question: I'm sure some of my equipment is not in the database. I think I will have to learn my current remote to the MX-700. Will I then be able to upload from the remote to the computer, and then record my macros? Can I label the buttons on the computer, then learn the remote to the buttons already labeled? (I hope so: that would save a lot of confusion.)

They are packaged in a plain white individual box with an injection molded plastic insert holding the MX-700, MX-200 and the batteries. SRC shipped this box well- padded within another shipping box.

OK, here's another question: both my VCR's and my DVD player have a jog-shuttle wheel. What's the best way to handle this on the MX-700?

Additional info:

1) You don't learn to the MX-700 and then upload. You learn to the remote when it is connected to the PC software with the cable, and the learned commands immediately get transferred to your configuration.

2) You can learn to a button and then label it. Or label it first and then learn to it.

Most people will probably layout their entire MX-700 with all of their labels, and then learn all of their other remotes to the MX-700 at once.

Then, when you're done learning, you make up your macros (if you choose to use them...... you will! ;-), and then you download the configuration to the MX-700.

The only time you upload a configuration to the MX-700 is if you don't have the configuration file (.mxf) on your PC, or if the configuration file on your PC should somehow get corrupted and you want to re-create the configuration based on the information that you have in your MX-700.

I hope this clarifies things a bit.

... Greg :-)

Thanks Greg. Maybe we should start a Q&A thread for the MX-700?

It's probably best to ask each question in its own thread, Phil.

Easier to find later on when someone is looking for an answer.
