Has anyone had success doing this? If so, how?

Paul,

The codes are already in the remote under AUX 183. I decided to set it all up exactly how I wanted, so I used another remote to teach the codes to the MX-500.

You are correct, however the new IR543AH will allow you to change housecodes from your remote, it comes with pronto codes. What I guess I should have asked was: Has anybody tried to program a Cinema 7+ with these housecodes and learned them to the MX500?

(Back story: I'm trying to "fix" some TOADS. I've programmed a X10 to irlinc to turn on/off my TV depending on the state of a probe. To do this you learn the irlinc your TV ON code and assign to a X10 "device". You then send the housecode+devicecode and "All lights on" or "All units off" command to do a conditional turn on/off, sending a A13 AON (my default housecode) will turn on all my living room lights on when I turn on the TV!)
I need to send another housecode to control the X10 to ir linc.

Ahh, the IR543AH! Yes, if you have the JP1 cable with a Cinema 7+ you're fine, you can learn the pronto codes and then teach to the MX-500!

You got it Randy,
So my questions is, has anyone done this? I'm looking for feedback about any problems other users have had with Pronto - X10 to Cinema 7+ conversions.

Yes, people have done it and it works fine. Lots of folks have the IR543AH and the MX-500 and we haven't heard a single problem!
