I've never had a programmable remote, but I'm leaning towards the MX-500. My wife & daughter have a tough time switching between watching HDTV vs SDTV on the Tosh DST-3000.
Basically, I want to press one button each(HD vs SD) to change the TV input, TV picture size, and STB output.
I know this remote will handle via macros the switching of Input and PicSize on my Tosh 50HX81 TV. But I'm not sure how on the MX-500 you go about switching the STB output. On the DST-3000 you do this by pressing the 'Action' button followed by the 'HD/SD' toggle switch button.
I understand that Tosh TV's don't have discreet codes for the Power button. Is it the same with the DST-3000? Would a discreet code be required for the 'Action' + 'HD/SD' output toggle sequence? Is there one?
Thanks for any help.

You can learn the HD and SD switching to separate buttons on the MX-500, then use them in macros. When learning, cover the IR emitter on the Tosh remote when you push the Action button, then uncover it when you push the HD/SD toggle. Repeat this to another button and you'll have both commands.
I don't believe there is any discrete Power commands for the DST3000 or its Hughes and Mits counterparts. Just leave it on all the time. That's what I do with mine.

I have not found a way to have the HD/SD and off/on buttons switch on my Tosh DST-3000. I have a Tosh 65H80 HDTV and both are TOADS.
Those are not big deals to me as I have a DirecTV/TiVo for SD and never switch. YMMV.
The MX-500 does everything else superbly.

Yeah, people have been trying to find a discrete Power On/Off for the Tosh/Hughes/Mits STBs for awhile now with no success. I only use my STB for HDTV too, so I don't have a need for the HD/SD switch, but I have tried the method I mentioned above with my Hughes E86 and it works for that at least.
