I've had my MX-500 since Dec.'01 and love it. But recently had a problem, the screen now appears like this:

TEST
LCD GOOD
RAM EMPTY
IROUT GOOD
IRAMP GOOD
LIGHT FAIL

First, I thought it was the batteries, then I replaced it. Still get the same method. I've gotten so used to using this remote as I spent much time into programming it and controlling my whole system with it. It's unbearable to go back into 6 different remotes.

I'm hoping to get some expert advice here or will it needs to be returned or service. Please help.

Email Mike Gifford at [email protected] and explain your problem.

I have had an MX-500 original that came up RAM Empty once, but I left it for 30 minutes and replaced it with brand new AAA batteries.

I have not had one with a LIGHT Fail message (even when the backlight wasn't working! Go figure!).

Try taking the batteries out for 30 minutes, and see what happens. Otherwise, email Mike!

Sorry I'm not an expert but it looks bad. I once reset my mx-1000 and got a similar screen message. The only way to get it back to working condition was to "download" the remote profile using the serial cable and PC interface software that comes with mx-1000 remotes. There is no such interface on the mx-500 so you probably need to call URC. Good luck.

I tried the batteries approach a couple times already and even bought another new pack today. Still did'nt work. That's why I posted here. Thanks for all the help so far, my hope is diminishing.
