Looking to purchase but have a few pre-purchase questions:

1) Using the VRC7800 to accept discrete commands.
option a) if a three digit discrete command exists directly enter in vrc7800
option b) if no three digit discrete command exists but a pronto(long) code, use the vrc7800/jp1 device to accept the pronto command?

For option b), how do actually perform the transfer given a remote with a no display screen and a connector? What is the process to transfer a pronto command to vrc7800 device? any detail would be helpful to determine complexity?

Assuming step 1 with either option a or b is completed, i use the mx500 to learn the one button vrc7800 command. I can than program the mx500 using the new learned(discrete command) in a macro.

My goal is find a device to sync up audio settings and video inputs using discrete commands. Could an expert confirm if I found the discrete video input command and respective audio command, I could sync the components.

thanks,
david

The answers to your JP1 questions can be found here: : [Link: hifi-remote.com]

Basically, you need the JP1 cable and the available software to program your 7800 with the codes you want. If there are discrete (or even advanced) codes for the functions you need (ie: input switching, you will be able to program your MX-500 to do what you want.
