Is the MX-700's cable the same as a Pronto's as it looks like that?

Nope. Doesn't work with my MX-200 anyway.
The MX-1000 cable is the same though.

What plans are dealers making to provide cables to their customers if they are only receiving 1 cable per three devices?
In my case, it'll be okay to receive one sans cable since I have the MX-1000 cable, but I am wondering how you're going to handle it.

Things may change, but the original idea was (and as far as I know still is) is to sell only to custom installers, who would not need a cable for each remote. One cable per six-pack. I had the link for the ability to make up a cable yourself, but I didn't save it, and now I can't find it.

But, let's see what Mike finds out.

I have been following this forum for some time, waiting for more information on the MX-700 before making a pruchase. It would be a poor investment for ANYONE to purchase this remote without the cable. Even someone who has no intention of programming the remote themselves should insist on having one available. The problem may show up in several ways. Your custom installer may have his own way of using a remote, and have little interest in finding out how a particular customer uses one. You might someday purchase a device that is not supported by your installer. For instance, if you were to purchase a XYZ brand DVD High Def recorder, but your installer only carries an inferior one put out by the competition, how likely is he to track down the descrete codes for a piece of equipment he doesn't support? If he will track them down, how much will he charge for the effort? Custom dealers can and do go out of business over a period of time. You may find another dealer you get along with better, but he only sells another brand of remote, and cannot obtain your cable.

Many of the items we use daily have built in planned obsolesence. We are expected to throw them away and buy a new one. A remote with a list price of $500 shouldn't be one of them.

There is only one cable per 3-pack. The reason the Pronto cable does does work is that while the Ground connection is the same, the pin configuration of the other two connections is reversed.

Additional cables will be available from URC.
