I'm thinking of buying the package with the URC-7801 and JP1 cable, but I have no experiece with JP1 yet. Where does one get the software/codes for use with the JP1 cable? Also, are discrete codes common for most components?

Larry,

You can find the codes many places:

1) The Advanced Codes built-in to the Cinema 7+ (URC7800 series remote) may have the code you need.

2) Online, using Pronto .ccf files from this website! It's easy to convert the pronto code for your needs using the JP1 software.

All you need to know is at [Link: hifi-remote.com]

As for the number of discrete codes for your equipment, most equipment has some, some has lots, some has none. Check out the The TOAD list (i.e. devices without discrete power codes) to see what people have found out for your equipment.
