I have tried to adjust the contrast of the MX-1000 but the controlls don't seem to adjust anything. I can't see any difference can anyone else ?

You need to *hold* the buttons down.

I see some difference in my contrast. It goes from illegible to really poor contrast. Does anyone have an MX-1000 with decent contrast? I have to use the backlight 100% of the time to see my screen even at the highest contrast setting. I'm wondering if I've got a dud screen.

The pictures of the MX-1000 in the HTM magazine ads shows a beautiful crisp screen with no backlight added. One of those "Pictures Shown are Enhanced" disclaimers needed for these ads?

I've seen remotes with three possible contrast ranges now...

Could someone address this point? Can anyone use their mx1000 without backlight? Does anyone get acceptable contrast and brightness? Anything close to what the pronto offers?

My LCD have poor contrast (all settings) and bad readability.

1) There seems to be more blank space between each pixel on the MX-1000.

2) The "darkness" of the LCD isn't as good as the Pronto which, overall, isn't anything to write home about itself.

3) The screen background of the MX-1000 is also a little bit darker, making it harder to see.

4) I have one MX-1000 with what appears to be a different screen than I assume is the normal shipping model -- it has a brighter, less yellowly background that is completely smooth (the other seems to be "textured"). There seems to be better separation of colors -- light gray is very nice -- and I'm not sure if it's an optical illusion or not, but there may be slightly less space between pixels. Overall I feel it's easier to see.

I'm having the same problem with this unit. The only change I see when using the contrast adjustment is the lines of the boxes get thicker; no appreciable difference in the black. If I don't come up with a solution, it goes back.

Although I have had a number of problems with programming the MX1000 (buttons swithching activities, etc.) the contrast is excellent, and the contrast adjustment works well. There just seem to be problems from one unit to another.

Apparently they are inconsistent. I cannot see any difference at all when adjusting the contrast.
Is it just me, or does the owner's manual SUCK for this thing?
