I got it working. You must upload both the learned software and the operating software and save under the same name. You will wind up with three files with the same name, with differing name suffixes (mdl, ldt, pdt). To see them, click on all file types in the file open dialog box.
In my case, the file names and suffixes were not saved correctly. I carefully renamed the files so that the first part matched on all three files and the three suffixes were correct, and now it works. I have not tried downloading to the remote (I'm scared) but it uploads from the remote properly.
This is pretty terrible software, but the more I use the remote itself, the more I like it. I have had it for a week and I now have macros to do nearly everything I need in one or two keystrokes. I have done all the programming the slow way, through the romote. Hopefully, they will improve the software so it will be more useful, but at this point I am sticking with programming through the remote and saving to the PC for backup purposes.
I would like to hear from some of you that have sucessfully programmed on the computer and downloaded to the remote, so as to know the techniques and pitfalls before I screw up something that is now working pretty well. Also, has anybody "cloned" an MX-1000 remote onto a second one? I am considering doing that in the future if thsi one works out well.
