Hi, I am ording a MX-1000 now. I've looked through the online manual/software and was wondering if it is possible to change the buttons on the main screen. I would like to set up a main screen that would have buttons like "Watch DVD" and, when pressed, would set my tv, amp, and remote for dvd viewing. I've played around with the software and can't seem to make any changes to the buttons on the main screen. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Click on the text on the button itself (not on the panel tree to the left). Then right-click on the text (you have to click on it first to get the focus there, or righ-click won't work), and you should get an option to edit the text on the button. Whatever you change it to will be reflected on the corresponding entry on the panel tree to the left. Goofy, I know, but it works.

Is it possible to delete some of the buttons or even resize them? There are buttons on the main screen that I will not use. Thanks for the tip!

Deleting buttons is easy, but not intuitive. Just move the focus to the button you want to delete by clicking on it (make sure the focus is on the button, not the text within the button), and press the ‘Delete’ key.

I haven’t figured out how to change the size of a button, but if you haven’t yet learned the IR codes, you can delete a button and replace it with a button of any size from the button gallery. After deleting a button, just select the button you want from the Gallery, click on the ‘Select” button, and hover the mouse cursor over the LCD configuration area. Wherever you click is where the button will be placed. When you add text to a new button in the main (home) panel, its entry will appear as a device on the left.

Whoops! Cancel that, Jason. You can change a button’s appearance quite easily. Select the button you want in the Button View (I called it the Button Gallery before), put the focus on the button (not its text) by clicking on it, then right-click on the button, and you’ll get an option to ‘Change’ the button. Select this option. Then click on the ‘Change’ (formerly ‘Select’) button in the Button View pane, and the button will change to the new button you selected.

Has anyone noticed if the software behaves differently, from an editing perspective, on Win2k compared to Win9X? I'm running version 1.4 on Win2k (don't have any Win9x machines around) and cannot delete any buttons on the Main page as described above. I can send the buttons to Main1 (whatever that is), but cannot delete.

I don't have my controller yet, but wanted to try the software out.

That is the same issue I am running into. I am running the software on W2K at work and I cannot delete any buttons from the main page, only move to main1, like you said. I will try the software on my home PC (win98) and let you know if there is any difference.

How about right-clicking over the button and selecting "Delete"?

Of course I tried that many many many times, the problem is when I right click on any button on the MAIN page, "Delete" is not selectable, nor is "Copy" or "Paste". "Change", "Send to MAIN1" and "Text Writing" are the only selectable options. Of course pressing the Delete key doesn't work either as suggested. Right clicking on any of the component pages does allow me to delete any button on the screen.

It seems apparent that this program behaves differently (for whatever reason) on Win2K than Win9X, excluding the reported upload/download problems.

To clarify, my last post, Right clicking on any button on any of the component pages does allow me to delete that button... Not to terribly clear in my last post
:(

Yeah, there seems to be a difference in how the program performs with Win 98 vs. 2K vs. NT. Personally, the right-click on a MAIN page button brings up the delete option. (on Win 98)

I was just looking now, you can certainly delete from MAIN1, but I don't think you're allowed to delete device buttons from MAIN. Just as you can't delete a device itself.

Right, I see the same on Win2k. I can add and delete to my hearts content on MAIN1. It's a shame I can't delete from the main page, I was hoping to have a much cleaner main page. I don't have two VCRs, a cable box, etc.

Try deleting the text, then drag the button over the top of an existing button. It goes away onscreen, presumably behind the real button. I haven't downloaded it to the remote to see what happens because I have it set up the way I want it, and don't want to screw that up. Good luck.

What exactly is the "main1" screen. Is this the second page for components?
