Hi Guys,

I have a UEI remote with 5 devices that came with my 8642HD cable box. My old remote just wore out and I got a new one but now I dont remember how I programmed it years ago, and can not figure it out after hours online. This is the remote I have:

The problem is I am having trouble finding a code for DVD that I can then programm my Apple Tv with. I can not find a good code that has the "Guide" and "Select" buttons enable as I use "Guide" as my "Menu" button. I did find a sony DVD code that had the "Guide" button enable but then the left and right buttons would not learn into the Apple TV... when I hold them down the programming bar on Apple TV start running and stops half way, like the Apple TV only undestands half the IR code sent. Any idea which DVD code I can use that has "Guide" enable and has the rest of control buttons that are learnable by the apple tv?

Thanks so much guys!

Just FYI, this URC forum is intended for remotes made by Universal Remote Control, while the remote you have is made by Universal Electroncs Inc.  But I'll answer here anyway.

That's an Atlas remote, probably a 1056B01 or B03,  However, these two remotes don't share the same setup codes.  So we need you to blink back the remote signature to identify which remote you have.

Use the 983 command.  I expect either 3033 or 20109.

Sorry for the wrong forum post and again thank you for your help.

You are right, the remote blinked back 3033.

Sorry, I completely missed your reply.  The 1056B01 (3033) has no (not even Sony, I think) DVD setup codes which have a defined function for the Guide button.  So we need to assign a 5 digit EFC to the Guide button.  The trick here is to make sure that we choose an EFC which isn't already in use with your setup code.  If you tell me the setup code your using, then I can suggest an EFC to use.

But there's no cost to just trying. So
1) Press DVD
2) Press Setup until 2 blinks
3) Enter 994 (2 blinks)
4) Tap Setup (don't hold it)
5) Enter 00231   (This is the EFC, and 00231 is a guess at an unused EFC)
6) Press Guide
The remote should blink twice.  Now when Guide is pressed in DVD mode, it should send an IR signal.

Awesome got it to work! I found code 1892 that sent a constant IR when pressing the directional buttons that could be learned by the Apple TV. And I used the code you gave above to program "guide" and also had to program the "select" button as it was not enabled, used 00232. Now everything is up and running perfectly. Thank you for your help! Hopefully this thread will helpful to someone else as well.
