I just had Xfinity X1 installed today and am having problems learning the commands from the new remotes. It seems as though the main remote for the DVR is wireless only (bluetooth? with no IR). I am using the remote for the additional boxes which seems to have the IR enabled. However, the R40 will only learn some of the commands. It will learn 4 or 5 of the numbers (0-9) and then when I have it try to re-learn the other numbers, some of the numbers that had worked now won't work. Other functions are behaving the same way. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

it probably uses the xmp protocol, which no learning remote can be taught. Your R40 remote might have preset code Cable 195. The mx-500 is useless, since it didn't exist when the mx-500 was released.

Hi Edmund,
195 was not available, but 113 seems to partially work. I was able to learn some of the functions and hopefully I can make it usable enough.
Does anyone know any good newer remotes that will work properly?
Thanks for your help!
