Hi guys -

I hope this is the place for this kind of question.

I am nearing completion on my dedicated home theater and have been trying to make a decision on a remote. After reading about the MX-6000 I felt like this was the remote that I had to have. I love technology and am fairly competent when it comes to this stuff. However, all of the dealers that I have contacted have tried to steer me away from the MX-6000 towards the MX-980, or RTI remotes.

While the price for the MX-6000 does seem a bit steep, if it works as advertised and people are having great experiences with it, I would probably still want to go this direction. The problem is I can't seem to find much in the way of "user feedback" at all. I've read the one user's experience here that was negative, but other than that I'm coming up blank.

On top of that the dealers that I've visited don't actually have an MX-6000 that I can see in action.

So, there must be some people that have had some extensive experience with this remote, right? I would love to get some feedback and advice in this area from anyone that is experienced with the MX-6000.

My setup will include the Lutron Graphik Eye, along with all the other normal equipment you'll find in a home theater/media room. I'll want to utilize the iPod dock thing as well (the model # escapes me right now). Any other information I should be incuding here?

Thanks for any help/experience/advice!

You will get some replys in this forum. However the 6000 is a pro series remote, and the pros hang out here.

For a theater I would say the MX-980 or even the MX-3000 but in my book the MX-6000 is more of a main room ( living room) remote. The MX-6000 has feed back for Ipod and it can do rss feeds, these are more of a set down and watch regular tv type of thing people seem to do. In a separate theater is more for watching movies or big events, not for every day. I have a lot of clients that I could sell the MX-6000 for there theater but I don't always try to sell them everything because I can but more for what they really need.

Sorry to ramble but I think the MX-980 or in my best systems I use the MX-3000 more than any other remote.

P.S. I sell a lot of custom graphics.

Thanks

Doesn't the lack of hard buttons and the inability to hold it in one hand make the MX-3000/6000 not so hot in a family room setting?

With a PVR I'm constantly mashing the transport keys, the skip buttons, info, guide, list, etc.

You can do all that blind with a well layed out hard button remote.
