I have been considering the 880 vs the 980, and I think that I am going with the 880. Only question I have is regarding fav programming. I assume that the fav button brings you to the fav channel screens where you can choose to add your channels along with icons. I currently have both sat and cable hooked up, and I wish to have a fav page for each. Can you create a list of favs specific to each device (cable channels, sat channels, stereo channels)? And on the favs page can you only have favorite channels as options, or if I wanted to make one of the 6 options a lighting control option instead of a channel is that possible?

As I understand it, you only have one set of 6 Favourite pages for a total of 48 favourite channel macros (6x6=48). There's nothing stopping you from having three pages for Sat and three for Cable with the ability to jump to the appropriate page directly but doesn't get you more than 48 total. The 980 is not limited in the same way.

The MX-810 does not have the 880's limitation. What you want could easily be done with the 810. Others will chime in about the software though. My 2 cents is that its not that bad I have made mine do everything that I desire. YMMV

Just a thought, but couldn't you bypass the actual "FAVS" hard button and create an LCD button called "FAVS" on Cable pg.1 and Sat pg.1?
Then create a couple of devices called "Cable FAVS" and "Sat FAVS". Attach a "jump to" command within the appropriate activity to go to the appropriate "FAVS" device. So, if I was watching cable, I would press the LCD "FAVS" button which would jump to "Cable FAVS" pg.1, and do the same for watching satellite, just jump to "Sat FAVS" pg.1.
This would give you the ability to add as many favorite pages as you want for both cable and satellite. Of course this is based on the condition that you could import the "station logos" to a particular device. If that's possible, just place a "device -" navigation at the end of the chanel macro.
It might be a rather long workaround to accomplish what you want and I have not tested this theory as I do not use the "FAVS" button on my 880 or 980. Anyone else think this might work?? Go easy on me as I am NOT a CI, I just love these remotes! ;)

You can do that to create channel macros, but you will not be able to use custom graphics (eg. station logos, etc). Those can only be placed on "Favorites" pages (with both the 880 and the 810).

Kinda figured that might be the case. I messed around with trying to move some favorite chanel buttons to a device. The buttons seemed to make the trip, but the graphics didn't. So, I guess the OP could trade cool factor for functionality.
BTW: Did my post actually make sense? I always have a hard time putting my thoughts to text. I was also battling with something my dad told me when I was little. He said, "Mark, sometimes it's better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you're an idiot, than to open it and prove it". Wasn't sure if I should have used that theory this time.
