If i use a miniplug cord to connect the CONTROL IN jack of the player with the OUT jack of my MRF350 or MSC400, do I have any chances of getting it to work?

Just trying to avoid sticking an ir emitter on the front of the player

Uhh, use the IR in instead.

Edit: wait, you're using the RF out on the basestation? No, no. Use a standard IR port on the basestation and go to the IR in on the player.

Yes I want to go IR but without the emitter. Just a straight through cable from an IR port of the URC device to the CONTROL IN port of the player.

My only concern is devices talk different languages/protocols and this set up would not work?

Keep in mind Pioneer says in the manual it's a proprietary Pioneer control port.

Just looked again at the back of the unit. There are two ports on the back of the Player

CONTROL IN jack and IR IN jack, so the new question is can i go from the back of the MSC400 IR or MRF350 port to the back on the Pioneer IR in port?

I am controlling my BDP 95FD (IR IN, not Control IN) through my MRF 300 with a standard mono (2 wire) cable. Works fine. Should be no problem with a 350 or 400.

There is a discrete Off - descrete On is a Play if I remember correctly, but is labeled Power On in the database. I got them originally for the 94 commands in the database - for the 850. I have not looked to see if the 95 is now in the database - but the 94 worked fine.

Did you read my reply?

Yes, there are discrete on and off commands. Just use Play for your on, as it'll turn on the player and start the disc. The discrete off is located in the BDP-94. For some reason URC didn't include the command on the 95, but the off command in the 94 works fine for the 95.

Ok, BDP-95FD is no longer a current model.
I have to choose between current 05 or 09 models. No questions about 09, because it's got an RS232 port, but 05 only has a CONTROL IN (SR) port.
Now I am back to what I wanted to do, but have some additional info from the research.

Apparently I can use Xantech Universal Adapter Module 794-10 to convert from IR to SR, or use a simple RC circuit to strip the carrier.

Does anybody have an idea what the diagram for a simple RC circuit would look like?
