Hi,

I have bought a iPronto TSI6400 and would like to use a MMC card in the slot on top of the remote. I have tried some 5 different MMC cards, but therte is no card that will work. I know for sure that the iPronto works fine also with a card (My brother has the same remote, but got a MMC card with the purchase. Who can explaine to me how and where I can determine that I have the right card for my iPronto?

Kind regards,
Willem.

I use a 64MB Sandisk card okay. How are you doing the initial format? Check if it is FAT or FAT32 if you're formatting the disk using a computer. Also, I believe there is a size limit, that is why I stuck with a 64MB card. It may do more, but I do not remember. Does the remote see the card at all after you refresh it?

Hi,

thanks for your response. I have used 256MB cards up until now, because that is the smallest card I can buy here. I know my brother uses a 128MB card without any problems. And no, the ipronto doesn't recognize any of the cards I inserted. It keeps saying that it hasn't detected a MMC card. I also have tried to format the cards I have used, but when I try to format to FAT and to use a clustersize of 2048 bytes, it starts to format but keeps ending by saying it can't complete the format.
I don't know where to buy a smaller card that works with the ipronto. Perhaps I could try to search for the card you use. Could you tell me the brand you use. Or perhaps even buy one for me. I will pay for it up front off course.

Thanks again and kind regards,
Willem.

Try going through Ebay. That is the only place I have seen them in small sizes. I tried another 64MB one I have I get the same errors. It is a new card though. The one I have that works has an allocation size of 2048. I believe the limits of FAT are what is preventing you from using a 256MB card.

Note that the FAT and FAT32 files systems impose the
following restrictions on the number of clusters on a volume:

FAT: Number of clusters <= 65526
FAT32: 65526 < Number of clusters < 4177918
Format will immediately stop processing if it decides that
the above requirements cannot be met using the specified
cluster size.

I'll see if I can get my new MMc card to work.

Something interesting. Here is my new 64MB MMC card that will not work.

Volume Serial Number is F89A-FDEE

G:\>chkdsk
The type of the file system is FAT.
Volume Serial Number is F89A-FDEE
Windows is verifying files and folders...
File and folder verification is complete.
Windows has checked the file system and found no problems.

63,817,728 bytes total disk space.
63,817,728 bytes available on disk.

2,048 bytes in each allocation unit.
31,161 total allocation units on disk.
31,161 allocation units available on disk.

Here is my older 64MB MMC card that does work.

G:\>chkdsk
The type of the file system is FAT.
Volume Serial Number is 3357-0DE5
Windows is verifying files and folders...
File and folder verification is complete.
Windows has checked the file system and found no problems.

63,934,464 bytes total disk space.
4,096 bytes in 2 folders.
15,316,992 bytes in 14 files.
48,613,376 bytes available on disk.

2,048 bytes in each allocation unit.
31,218 total allocation units on disk.
23,737 allocation units available on disk.

Where did 116736 or 57 units go?

Well, I went to Sandisk and found some more information. Is the card your using a secure one? Is your brothers? I'm thinking the older ones are not and work with the Ipronto.

Thanks again for all your trouble, but if so, how can I determine if a card is a secure one and how do I check this before I buy one? Or can't I?

Kind regards,
Willem.

I do not know, all I can say is maybe look for an older one, make sure it is MMC (7 pins) and not SD (9 pins), no lock on the card. Are you using the minis or regular? I'm trying to track some down, but people are using MMC and SD interchangeably and it gets confusing. What brands have you tried so far? What kind does your brother have?

Well the problem with my brothers card is, that it doesn't have any branding on it. I just thought of the possibility that it might be somewhere on the card along with the programs, so I am going to ask him about that. I have used transcend cards and others, I don't remeber the brand of. Now you mentioned it, I do remember that they all had some switch on the side to lock them. So that is definitly not what I am going to look for from now on.
If I get lucky and find a card I'll be sure to let you know. I hope you still will let me know if you find a card that works.

Kind regards again,
Willem.

I just hope I'm right on what I said. To bad the scum at Philips just can't answer the question or anything else relating to this remote.

Hi again,

I think I found a card on e-bay that will work. I ordered it today, so I'll have to wait a few days and I will see if I was right. I'll let you know!

Kind regards,
Willem.

Hi Grimmace,

I just wanted you to know I have found a card that works with the iPronto.
I am told it is a Toshiba 128MB MMC card, though it doesn't have any information or a brandname on the card itself.
Thanks for your help and your information.

Kind regards,
Willem.

I looked for what you said, a Toshiba 128MB MMC with no name on it and found them on Ebay for $6. The auction has no end date. The IPronto recognized it right away. Here's the link for anyone else who wants one.

I saw Grimmace's recommendation and link to get a 128MB MMC on eBay and I bought one...just received it. It works on the iPronto, that is, the iPronto formats the MMC and then saves the current .icf file to it. But that's as far as I get. My Dell Inspiron XPS Gen2 running XP SP2 does not recognize or read the card. It see what it calls a "mobile device" but recognizes nothing on it. This seems to be the reverse problem others are having, and I wonder if anyone has come across this issue and resolved it.
