Hi,

I've considering leaving my ipronto constantly powered up and mounted to the wall.

1) Has anyone experienced screen burn on their iPronto?

2) Has anyone wall mounted their iPronto, and if so how?

Thanks in advance

Cheers, Lee

I bought mine when first released (between 2 and 3 years ago). It's never been turned off. No screen burn-in or loss of color on mine.

Screen burn is an issue relating only to CRT and Plasma type screens. TFT/LCD screens do not suffer from screen burn, due to the different technology used to produce the image. No need to worry!

Hi,
I wall mounted my ipronto a few months ago, did not wanna glue it on or brakets etc as looked good on its own. so used velcro, the high strength stuff from diy stores, used two 1" strips.
Left it to set for 24hrs, Stays up perfect and can remove if reqd.
I have also fed a power supply to keep powered up as like to have always on to show current weather from my web site, also gets used for x10 whole house control.

j33pkk, Did you sink it in the wall. If so, did you build a cabinet or find something on the market?

Hi,

Thanks for all the replies.

It's reassuring that one has been powered up for 2/3 years. Thanks for that. No worries leaving it on then.

With regards the high strength velcro, I'm a little cautious about that method. I can see it now: Velcro slips, wife calls you at work, to say the remote won't power up. Boo hoo!

I was thinking about something like a u shaped bracket, that the ipronto could sit in. Has anyone seen anything suitable? I had also considering resessing it into the wall, but want a solution that mean's I can grab it easily and put it back quickly?

Any ideas?

Cheers, Lee

Hi,
No i did not sink the unit in, its straight onto the wall.
I can assure you even with 1" square velcro will not come off!
Just to be safe I use strips apx 4" x 1" . 2 off top and bottom
Each 1" square will hold something silly like 7kg in a shear action.
Trust me will NOT come off.

Hi,

The wall bracket is built. I used uPVC to create a U shaped holder. Just used Silver spray paint to achieve a similar colour to the ipronto. Not sure about what to use to pad the interior out yet, but I'll come up with something. Anything suggest anything suitable?

If you'd like to see some pics, drop me an e-mail at [email protected], and I'll sort you out.

Cheers, Lee

You really should go with the Velcro. I use it all the time for an invisible mounting method. Believe me, if you cover half of the back of the iPronto with Velcro, you'll have to be carteful not to tear the back off the iPronto when you remove it from it's mount.

For information I have now reduced the amount of velcro to 4 off 1 inch squares, as As mentioned the pronto was going to come apart and it was starting to bend....
Nuff said....

Try getting some small foam pipe lagging form a hardware store and cut it lengthwise, you could then glue it into the uPVC runner
