This post may not be worth anything, but here is the info I got from a Pronto Team rep at CES in January.

He said Philips dropped the iPronto because its lead content was too high to meet EEC requirements. He intimated that a replacement product would be announced at CEDIA 2006 (Sep-Oct), but would not provide any information. So whatever it is (or isn't), it may or may not be able to use existing iPronto programming.

I am skeptical, because at the 2005 CES, Philips told me that there would be exciting new announcements at the 9/05 CEDIA, and what we got was the 3500/6500/7500, mere upgrades of existing products.

I would think if the lead thing was true they would not have been able to sell it there but they did right? So I don't buy that one.

And would you buy it.......once bitten.......

I'd only ever buy another Philips product if it didnt need any future upgrading (such as a TV). I'll never buy another of their Remote Control's, DAP's etc ever again
