Can anyone let me know how to get multitasking on the iPronto as advertised on this site under Recent News. Have the browser and remote open at the same time.

Hi,

Browser screens OR remote screen OR EPG ... not all together. Even if the embedded Linux on this device might support multitasking it is certainly not supported by Philips :-) !!!

BTW: It seems that even the iPronto device is not supported by Philips :-)

And: Don't trust advertisments - especially from Philips regarding Prontos ....

Best regards,

Kalle

The iProntoedit manual/help talks about it but it is not clear how to implement it. What I want to accomplish is have 4 partial screens displayed at the same time eg.browser,EPG,dvd remote and amp remote.

Unfortunately, this is a feature we seem to have lost. It was implemented in early versions of the firmware, where one of the soft buttons down the left hand side of the screen took you to a 4-way page with a browser and 3 other device pages (I can't remember which ones). I'm sketchy on the details now, but I think it was only available on the default setup which comes pre-installed on the iPronto, and there was no way of customising it via iProntoEdit (but my memory may be wrong on that one). I didn't see many comments favouring it at the time, and I myself never used it. I suspect they got negative feedback about it, but whatever the reason, they took it out of later versions (I think about version 1.7 onwards) of the firmware.
