hi all,
my ipronto is continously connected to the powersupply and always on. mostly
there is my personal internet site (weather) shown. this site will be updated every 15min on the internetserver. the ipronto does automatically also this update with a delay of some minutes. so this works for me good enough.
but since a couple of days the automatically epg download failed always. the status is: no epg information is available, no status, next epg download e.g. 4:56. I can start manually the epg download and it works. so I have all the information. Butt the next morning, after the automatically download the epg is gone, but the weather site is okay - means the wlan connection works.
epg download manually works, automatically failed - why ?
I have done a fw-update of my accesspoint, could this be a reason ?
configuration is fixed ip-adress.
thanx helmut

Have you got the latest firmware? This was suffered by a lot of people recently, but was fixed with one of the latest Firmware Updates.

The only thing I can think of, is your router/access point dropping the connection for a while in the early hours of the morning? Do you have filesharing software running on your PC overnight? If so, this frequently causes your router's buffers to fill, making it drop the connection at various times. It will normally recover by itself, leaving you none the wiser that it ever happened if you were out of the room at the time (which I would hope you are at EPG update time)! If this happens while the EPG is trying to update, that would cause your problem. There is no problem I am aware of with 1.9.5 firmware, so I suspect it is a problem with your setup.

Of course, 20 people will now doubtless post and say "mine does that" and we'll discover a new bug in the firmware! ;)

My router, Netgear DG834G drop connection frequently, and I suspect it is beacause of the above. Is there any way to prevent this, with windows file sharing enabled? Thanks

well, I think you're right, it's a problem of my WLAN ap. I'll try another ap the next days. But I wonder the fact that a manually started download of the epg always works !!!! I also found out that every morning the ipronto (after the epg download failed) have some problem, because the first touch to switch the screen e.g. from a internetsite to the epg site there is no click sound. with the second touch I can hear the click again ????

Not that I know of, unfortunately. By filesharing, I mean p2p software (kazaa, emule, etc) not the Windows filesharing over a network...

hi guys,

I was able to solve my problem regarding the failed EPG Update.
I forced a reboot and download the firmware from the philips page again.
Since this the EPG download works. I'am wondering about this, because the firmware was already the version 1.95. I remember that I'd received the message "there is nothing to update" if I have pressed the button "update firmware" in past. This means there was an error in the firmware - I'am right?
I really don't know such things could appear. But best thing is, it works now!
