Some days ago my iPronto stays sleeping even when I pressed a key or touched the screen. So I did a reboot and than the problem occured: I received the first screen saying "cleaning ressources...", second the music prior to booting came and than the boot screen with the flashing iPronto logo appeared. But this was it... I unplugged battery & ac adapter: no change. I let the iPronto boot more than 24 hours. When I came back, it was still booting.

So I tried to update the firmware in the way I described in my prior thread. And this was the solution: I received an error message "Network card not found". I opend the cover of the network card, released it, put in in again and started the update again. I received that not update was needed, the iPronto booted and now it's still back to live.

You can imagine how happy I was. And I learned something: It seems that booting is hanging, when the network card isn't inserted properly.

Maybe this will help you when facing the same problem than me!

best Regards

Olaf

Hello Olaf,

Useful info, indeed :)
But this WiFi card insertion problem was the only reason of the big hanging problem you had recently when triying last firmware update ?

Best regards

Hi Jean-Max,

no my previos problem didn't had something to do with the WiFi card. LetsAutomate sent a spare wifi card together with the replacement of the iPronto. All 3 cards worked fine in the new iPronto. So that problem wasn't caused by the wifi card...

And this time my iPronto fall down from the desk in my living room down to the carpet. It wasn't hard, so nothing was demaged. But it seems that the wifi mas no longer properly installed...

I would have never realized that without testing to force a firmware update, which failed because of the not properly inserted wifi card...

It's a secret of Philips, why a iPronto isn't booting, when the wifi card isn't installed properly!

best Regards,

Olaf

A great big thank you for saving the day.

I just noticed the clock on my iPronto was stuck at a particular time and went into the menu to change it thinking it was just a bit slow. I noticed the time was correct in the time setting section so thought an error had occured and proceeded to reset the remote.

It then went into the situation you described and wouldn't re-boot.

I desperately tried all the things you did, except of course unplugging the network card has I didn't think this was the problem.

After staring at the non-booting thing for ages I jumped on the internet to look for help. After reading this thread I immediately sorted the problem. Least I can sleep tonight. Thanks again.

PS The clock is still not right in the bottom display even though it is in the adjust settings screen. Any ideas anyone?

Same thing happen to me yeaterday. I-pronto I was carring in a lop top bag with battery disconnected, would not boot after half hour of batt being reconnected. I tried battery from other i-pronto I had at customer's house & still would not boot. I opened wifi card slot & saw it was not lit. removed card & pushed it back in and unit fine!
