My iPronto tries to downlowd firmware 1.9.5 since 12 hours. It startet fine with partion 1/6. Then it loops several times with 2/6 and now it's looping for 12 hours with 3/6. No bar showing the download progress is displayed at the bottom of the screen. Sometimes it asks for reviewing the network settings and than it loops again. I double checked the network settings, they're fine. Also I tested WLAN acces to the internet via the AP the iPronto is using, it also works. Mac filtering of the AP is also fine...

What to do?

I fear when resetting the iPronto while it's downloading the firmware update it won't come up with the old firmware because the first 2 partitions were already downloaded. So what to do? I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP !!!!!

Thanks in advance

Olaf

Hi Olaf,
well, I see only a few possibilities:

1) try to contact the "hotline" from Philips. They should have one in every bigger country. Ask, if you can reset the iPronto.

2) If you cannot reach support then do a reset. Do you have an alternative?

3) Worst case: the device doesn't come up. Send it to your dealer or ask Philips support where to send it?!

I've updated mine a few times ... no problems so far. But I didn't try to update 1.9.5 .... I will do this tomorrow ....

Best regards,

Kalle

SirKalle,

here in Germany Philips doesn't even know that they are builing an iPronto... And, up to the moment, I don't know what will happen, I don't want to reboot...

best Regards,

Olaf

To keep all of you informed, that's what Philips told me:

A.) There's no chance in my case to step back to the former firmware, because 2 partisions were already overwritten by the new one.

B.) The only chance is to completely reboot the iPronto and to try the update again. This is the way to do it:

1.) Remove the battery
2.) Unplug from power supply
3.) Plug to power supply again BUT don't use the battery
4.) While iPronto is booting press "Channel +"
5.) A menue appears
6.) Again check WLAN and network settings
7.) Menue --> Restore --> Flag Update = Yes
8.) Menue --> Default Definition URL
9.) menue --> Resume

The iPronto than should start downloading the firmware again. I'll try this evening and I'll keep you informed about the progress...

best Regards

Olaf

What a pitty, it still doesn't work... I tried to ping the iPronto from my PC and it was not responding. I checked whether the WLAN card was properly inserted: It was. So I think, maybe this card is damaged. I tried to replace it with another one of another brand, but it seems that the iPronto is only able to work with the original one. (I already assumed that, but it was the last try...)

No I think I have to send the iPronto to the supplier, where I've bought it... :-((

Hello Olaf ,

Very sad to hear about your big problem for your Pronto

Are You my friend Olaf G... ?
If yes, your second Ipronto you sold me, is well, in my home ..
But.. I keep the previous Firmware version ..

Anyway, sure that Philips can make easyly a clone of the firmware eprom to solve your problem

It's really a pity that a wi-fi bug (??) during firmware update process cannot be solved by a kind of reset or by an automatic return to previous firmware version (It would be a good secure idea..)

Best regards

Hi Jean-Max,

yes I'm the one you have in mind...

I got a new iPronto and was very surprised, because manufacturing date was in June this year, but firmware release was 1.5. I double checked all the settings and than I hit the "firmware update key" again. With some fear I looked to the device and everything worked...

By the way: You need at least firmware 1.9 to use the MMC card! But up to now the iPronto doesn't work with MMC cards > 64 MB. It's Philips!

best Regards,

Olaf - from the north of Germany

I got a new iPronto

You mean that Lestautomate sent you a new Ipronto, under guarantee?

and was very surprised, because
manufacturing date was in June this year

Good ! It seems that Philips hasn't stopped manufacturing of our baby :-)
so, we can continue dreaming about some improvements...

Hi, no, not the lbel is new but the manufacturing date shown within the setup menue... If someone would fake this, he wouzld be silly not to perform a firmware update. So I'm sure, I received a brand new one with an old firmware release....
