I have had my iPronto for a few days now - managed to get it up and running, connected to my wireless internet, downloaded latest firmware, got the EPG up and running - all this in spite of the iPronto losing the internet connection fairly regularly. This seems to happen when the screen times out and goes black - when reactivated the internet may not be there (but sometimes is). There seems to be nothing I can do to get it to reconnect, other than be patient and wait for it to come back on its own - sometimes not very long, at other times ages. I started with DHCP, but Fixed IP seems to be better (wishful thinking perhaps??). I have a Belkin system running in mixed b+g mode, with encryption. The iPronto recognises the SSI fine and deals with the encryption when it decides to connect.
Any tips on dealing with this appreciated.

An update - I do seem to be able to get it to reconnect by going to the IP settings, editing a setting but not changing it so that the system stores the settings again, then going to a browser page, which then opens and operates fine - until the next time it decides to lose the connection (which does not seem to happen whilst the system remains active, only when it times out, but not always).

hi i have bought a secondhand ipronto, and using a d-link dsl-g604 have managed to get it connected to the internet. i have the same problem, as soon as the screen times out it looses its connection (every time) and wont remake it untill i change the settings or power the router on and off. i have tried fixed ip and dhcp and it happens on both settings. Has anyone any ideas.........

You may not have the option or desire to do this, but you could just either keep the unit plugged in and/or the "time out" setting set to "on" instead of having it shut off after a period of inactivity. I leave mine plugged in almost constantly and it's always connected to the internet that way. Just a thought.

What about screen burn in? Any problem with that?

I've owned mine since it first hit the streets and the screen's never been off, and I've had no problem with any screen burn-in.
