I have recently bought a ipronto with Netx. I have spent ages setting it up, codes, screens etc, and having done everything I can think of and am supposed to, set to RF, configure the Netx with the irponto, it doesnt work.

The IR does, the Netx will go into configuration mode, the Ipronto goes into configuration mode, they seem to set each other up properley, and when the Ipronto leaves the config mode the netx lights flash as they should.

However. there is a screen on the irponto that is to do with the Netx before you go into config, that looks like it should be populated with data, perhaps a list of all the Netx's it detects, but on mine it remains clean of any data.

Should this show me the settings, or is it meant to be blank.

I am suspiscious that my netx has never worked properly and is brocken out of the box. The instructions seem to simple and sparse to be any use. I have done everything in the order in the book, as far as I know.

Any advice would be useful and much appreciated.

I have had normal prontos prior to this, all worked and were set up OK by me.

Thank you

My advice, Return the NetX and use IR exclusively. Most of the iPronto users I personally know have taken this approach as have I. the NetX is generally one problem after another.

Wow, didnt expect that response.

My units are placed in different locations, in cupboards etc, with IR extenders often not being reliable, so I thought the Netx was the way to go.

No wonder the "bundle" I bought was so cheap with the Netx in there.

I bought it from a trade dealer who supports my company, so I can have some fun with this, to try and get them to fix it, as they pride themselves on their support. The company I own and run installs AMX kit occasionally, which I supervise, and get the kit from them, so this may prove of benefit to other users.

So I do still need to know, before I approach them, as to whether the data should be there in the Netx set up screen on the Ipronto after leaving config mode, cos if it is, then I have a faulty unit and they will replace it, and keep replacing it until it does work.

I have had a netx installed and operational for about 8 months. Two days ago it failed between operations. Rerunning the configuration mode and reseting the unit had no effect. The manner of the fairlure and inability to reconfigure were about the same as the one heading this thread. I was is the process of instucting my iPront to send the commands as IR when I clicked the button (on that set up window) to search out netx units. My netx was discovered and downloading the file to the ipronto made it operational again.

I have had an iPronto for 8 months or so, with a NetX, and have had very few problems. I fond that the NetX occasionally disappears from that list, but I find every time that either a reboot of iPronto, unplugging NetX and plugging it back in, or a reboot of the Router solves it. But it is a very rare situation, once in a blue moon.

Problems with the NetX can often be resolved by doing a factory reset on it. Press and hold the only button on the NetX unit for at least 10secs and then release it. Now check the iPronto network configuration as this will be the base that the NetX uses during setup. If the iPronto is set for DHCP then the NetX should also be set to DHCP and get allocated another IP address when it is configured. If the iPronto is set for a static IP address then what the NetX gets set to is not so clear cut. It may take the next IP address in sequence, which might already be allocated on your network and hence not work, or take the same IP address as the iPronto and then you must change the iPronto address to not conflict with the NetX. Generally using DHCP works OK but be aware that the NetX configuration screen in the iPronto can take a long time to get refreshed and display its name and settings. Remember that other Wi-Fi devices or networks may interfere during this peer-to-peer setup mode so take care to keep the iPronto and NetX fairly close together.
