Group,
Could one of our US based users please do me a favour ? Could you take a look at the power supply label on the charger... I hope it says something like :

100-240 V ~ 50/60 Hz

I have a copy of the pdf of the manual and it looks like a laptop type charger which are multi voltage.

(I have a transformer and US dist board but would be nice if I can use 240V... see [Link: remotecentral.com])

As a further question would anyone like to comment on the battery life. The manual says charge every 2 days, is this fair ? I can see me using the unit like a laptop, plugged in most of the time..

Any feedback much appreciated.

Andrew.

I often do marathon TV watching (actually movies) The iPronto has never run down (10-12 hours). When I am not using it, it is always plugged into the charger

Barry,
Thanks for the info, would you mind having a look at the text on the power supply block for me ? Is it 110V only ?

Many thanks.

Andrew.

Northwestern, just looked at your profile, think you are in norway ?

I too have a multi-sat setup, which Norwegian channels does the EPG support ? lots I hope ;-)

Do you have access to UK channels also via the EPG ? Does the setup ask for your location info during the setup process ?

Many thanks in advance.

Sorry, didn't see your first post.Yes,I bought it from US.www.electricnations.com 950US$. Refurbished/renewed.I can't see anything on mine, that would say it is used. But,I guess it is so.There are a label on the back, saying renewed. And it was already upgraded with the last software. And it was a serviceminded company to order with.Only minus, they are sending after 5-7 days. But,any questions about the product, and order.Really quick response.Comparing to the job it is to get it house trained.I will say that 950 US$,that's the maximum/real value. For this price you get a hobby. For 1200 US$ and upwards, you get greyhaired. It might have been worth more,if the software and codes was 100%.But,you can't ask people to buy a remote for max price, and then do the job themselves. You get a good PC for that price. For half of it,you get a PDA with Nevo software for remoting. For the prices asked for this remote, there are a long way to go before it reach that value.I am satisfied with mine so far,but then again.I like new toys, and new problems.

Well that was were I was considering. They shipped OK to you in Norway ? I sent them a message about this but no response. Did you get charged for VAT or customs ? (dont answer if you prefer!)

I had kind of settled on bluedo following comments here.

Thanks for the info on the channels support, that may be the thing that does it for me. the only thing will be how to control my TiVo from the UK epg channels and my GBSat from the Norwegian / Swedish channels :-)

Any comment on the battery performance ? I am used to my RU940 rechargeable which goes for weeks without recharge.

They shipped to my forwarding address in US.I use a company called www.magnum.no.They forward packages from US-Norway.There are similar companies forwarding to UK.The price was 950,inclusiv freight and insurance to forwarding agent in US.The price is 950 exclusiv tax,and thats what they charged.Regarding controlling 2 sets, that depends on the channel numbers. In the epg subscription, you give the channel number device to control. So one of your sets, might have the possibility to move channels to a specific channel number. That's another day at work.Regarding answer from electricnations,I bet they are still in bed.Time difference,I think.Regarding battery,I have used it for 3 days, most of trying to learn the thing. And transfers of different ccf's.But it seems to be not so bad battery capasity.Every second day I will think it need charging. There are quite a few,on this board that have more experience. But,they seems to be to shy to answer. And thats a big difference between Dreambox forums, and iPronto forums.I see there are a few Hallelujah fans of iPronto in this forum. But,when it comes to answering newbee questions. They are completely deaf. The question you asked about Power on the iPronto.I asked it 1 month ago,and it's still not answered. So I imagine many have their have their head in the manual. And only comes up for a Hallelujah and an Amen.If somebody, argue about the qualities of the iPronto.

Northwestern, Thanks for the info, must say I was considering just importing the unit myself, take a chance with any extra cost. most stuff from amazon.com arrives with no tax to pay. i guess the service you have in norway is useful for those retailers in the states that do not export (most of them !)the query from me to electricnation went in last weekend so assumption is they dont want to talk to me :-(

Mind you the dollar rate is now on the way down for us here so still thinking about whats best.

Are you saying that different channels in the epg can be allocated to different devices ? In the RU940 I have channel logos that link to my TiVo and sat setup. for example 1 button gives me BBC 1 (101) and sets all of my system up so that i have the TV, amp, AV switch and TiVo on the appropriate settings. Guess you can do the same with the ipronto, and via the epg ?

Don't think that you will be able to use the epg subscription in your way.Unless, one of your sets, have the ability to set up channel name manually.Lets say on my Dreambox,Channel 25 is Discovery. So the epg subscription is channel 25 for Discovery. If your other set have the ability to be set up with, let's say channel 25 Discovery. That would give possibilities.I think, but I also think that one of the sets have to be turned off,or create a hidden page.Where you just link the watch page to two different sets.I think this can be made. Not 100% sure.I am fairly new on this.So I am still scrathing my head. But,there are some possibilities, that could be tried.Anyway, you can open the epg subsription. And start subscription, and wait until you get the box. Then confirm the epg number.I think your email, have gone up in the air.I was in contact with them yesterday, and I have already bought one.And got a quick reply.Ihad some problems yesterday, brainprobs. But I thought it was the iPronto. So I asked for guaranty,e.t.c Got the reply fats, and later I informed them. That it was brain probs. And got a quick reply,as i hereby paste in.

"Great! I'm glad to hear you got it working.
I know these are difficult to operate, many people have trouble learning how
to use them.
Thanks for the kind words, we appreciate it,

So I can't see any reason to spend the extra US$,I also think they send international. If they get confirmed adress on Visa card.Or money order. There is a popular thing in the US,to use stolen Visa cards.Buy goods, and get it delivered to another address then card address. We send robots to Mars, but can't get a bandido proof system with online shopping.Today I have been busy,to make pages/scenes for the different pages. Here's a good link for channel logo's if you need. http://www.satlogo.com .But,it still amaze me,to see how many says Hallelujah. But,when I see the different questions on this Forum. And then see the lack of answers.I get a bad taste in my mouth.Go to a dreambox forum, ask if anyone know if the power cable is black or green.Or where to put the power cable. You will get answers by the hundred. And I would have imagined, that all hallelujah's on iPronto.Would have lead to good answers on any subject. For the newbies on iPronto,to hear all this praising. And so buy it,then there are absolutely silence. Then you ask for bad word on the iPronto. So I will ask them.Stop praising,or answer any question that comes up.It might be a naiv question. But everybody need to start someplace, and if we can share tips and tricks. This Forum might be of benefit for all. And,then iPronto can be lifted up to a valuable product.Anyway,if you have some more questions.I will try to answer them. And,I hope. That if I'm to give wrong answers. That there are somebody out there, correcting it.So we all can go the same direction.
