Interesting that Philips has the DesXcape Smart Display for Windows, similar to the ViewSonic offering that uses the NEVO remote control, yet nobody in Philips seems to make the DesXcape guys talk to the Pronto guys.

From what I could ascertain from ViewSonic and Nevo, they offer everything that the iPronto or other flavors of Pronto do, plus the connection to the PC.

Reading about the iPronto, I see that it has rudimentary web access tools, but certainly not a full-feature browser.

Sure wish that these internal divisions of Philips would communicate, because for my money, I'd prefer the DesXcape with Pronto capabilities. Since the Pronto Editors are able to run live emulators on the PC, the unification of these two devices ought to be natural.

NEVO is in no way compatible to a Pronto. It is not customizable in any real way

My point was that one Smart Display OEM did consider universal remote as a good option.

Yes ViewSonic + NEVO sucks, but how about TWO DIVISIONS OF THE SAME COMPANY working together to deliver a good result.

Pronto/iPronto + DesXcape would be a superb product. While it might cannabalize iPronto, the iPronto group would ultimately field more products in sheer sales numbers if their development were combined with the Smart Dispaly folks.

Plus, for the same price, we'd get TWO major capabilities in one device and little need to compromise the utility of one over the other since they are already so similar and such a natural combination.

Personally I fully agree with tintruder, both produ ts comand a lot of money (too much money) but together they would be awesome (and affordable!).
