Is there anyone out here that likes the ipronto? Anyone? It seems that it advertises much potential. Web surfing, email, etc.,. What other remote device offers that? Some have said a smart display but that carries a the additional cost of PC if you need one. Ayy advice here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have had one for about two months and am very happy with it. I did the same thing that you are doing and was beginning to wonder if it was for me or not. After about a month of reading the posts here, I finally decided to take the plung. I purchase mine one firmware upgrade ago and have had minimal problems - every 3-4 days I will have to reset it - but that has been it. The remote function and the wireless communication has worked flawless. I have not used the EPG very much at all as I have DirecTV for about 10 years now and I can operate thier guide in my sleep now. Bottom line I do not regret my purhase of the iPronto at ALL!

I have had mine about 2 months with minimium problems. Best remote I have ever had and its been worth the time and effort that I have put in to it. I do agree that the software could have been better before it was launched and they should have launched the extender at the same time. But still you will not find a more capable device for the money. And yes I do also have a Pro and I still find it better then that.

I think what everyone is forgetting is that each new product has a learning curve to get it working well. The promise of the IPronto is pretty great and therefore will have a large learning curve to take advantage of all of it's capabilities. Also as with many control products, there are always those who push the envelope of what it will and won't work with. When the TSU 1000 first came out it took alot of people a long time to figure it all out. Other control systems such as Crestron and AMX take litterally years to learn the process of programming for maximum functionality. In those systems there is really no cut and paste and merging of programs. We are lucky to have easy to program remotes like Prontos. A Crestron system with the capability of the IPronto would cost in excess of seven thousand dollars in hardware and about two thousand in programming. Keep in mind though that the capabilities of the Crestron exceed the Ipronto by a large margin. The IPronto at it's price point is a bargin. Once some of the more creative folks build some nice interfaces we can have some really great looking remotes.

the HTM MX-3000 ( new product) may well be a contender in this market, especially if the iPronto is not significantly de-bugged by the time it hits the streets

from my experience, new HTM products work out of the box and are much more user friendly

I have not seen the MX-3000, but even though it has many features, I don't think it would compete with the iPronto. Chances are that whoever is looking at the iPronto is looking for a big screen
