I'm trying to set up 880 with a 8300HD.
I add the device and it doesn't seem to operate anything but power (barely).
The Wizards seems to map the wrong toggle power key but if I go to the Raw device on the remote there is a On, Off and Toggle. And toggle works but the Harmony Wizard doesn't seem to use Toggle (I did not setup explicit power).
But even if I do manage to power it up no other keys work (e.g. Channel Up/Down).
Do some venders custom program this thing (e.g. COMCAST)?
I know I can learn each key but that's a pain and seems wrong.
This box also does something weird that you have to choose a specific channel to play your record DVR's. I'm hoping Harmony knows how to do all that. But I'm not even past the basics yet.
Why won't my 8300 work at all?
Thanks
P.S. I'm using an 880.

First try "Confirm IR language" or something like that - it's under the Device menu in the software. This might correct the IR codes. If not, try a partial model number and see if you get other choices.
You need to go into each device and adjust the power settings to be sure it's setup to use the right power commands. Same for input selection. The default settings don't always work for everyone.

... and for the SA8300HD PVR "Playback Channel", just add it to your "Favorite Channels" (via Activity > Set Up Favorite Channels).

My daughter seemed to fix it.
She chose Comcast as the brand and put in 8300HD
Later in the Wizard it asked if she had the remote. If she said yes it wanted to learn the commands. If she said no it gave a list of devices.
None even closely matched the 8300HD model but she picked the only Scientific Atlanta looking DVR model and it worked.
Even DVR works where it knows to go to special channel.
So basically if you want a list of devices put in a model that does not exist and tell it you don't have the remote and you'll get a list to choose from.

Very strange. Are you saying that it did not work properly when you initially chose "Scientific Atlanta" for the brand?
Also what Device Category ("Channel Decoder > Digital Set Top Box" or "Video Recorder > PVR") did you select?
I added mine way back using "Scientific Atlanta" for the brand, 8300HD for the model, and "Digital Set Top Box" for the device category. The "DVR" command must be new. It's not listed on mine but the device has an update flag which I have not done yet. My Playback channel is 950 (with Rogers). What is yours?

FYI - when it asks you to send commands from the OEM remote it's only looking at 3 or 4 commands to compare to it's database. It will use that to pick what it thinks is the correct database IR codeset. It's not trying to learn the commands.
