1) Do I have to have the RF base station to get the RF working? I imagine so but I wanted to ask.

2) If I do need the RF base station, then how many IR blasters/repeaters does the Logitech RF base station one come with?

3) Are the IR repeaters in the Logitech RF base station "Plasma Proof"?

4) Were there any problems with older units or is there an updated version of the remote, maybe better screen, faster processing, battery not charging, etc?

...Without it, what would you do with the RF?

It comes with four dual emitters.

"Plasma Proof"?

The "plasma proof" designation is only for IR receivers, which can otherwise be overwhelmed by a certain frequency of IR emitted by plasma sets, basically becoming blind to IR remotes. There's no IR reception on the RF basestation, since it's receiving RF and transmitting IR.

You said it comes with four dual emitters. Will this be enough with all of this equipment:

Pioneer Elite Reciever
Pionner Elite Plasma
Pioneer Elitle DVD player
Comcast HD DVR box
Xbox 360

If that isn't enough where can I buy additional emitters that will work with the Logitech? Will other makes/brands work or do I have to buy Logitech ones?

Four dual emitters are good for 8 components.

I'd say reconsider. I have a 1000 and regret it every time I'm in my HT.

I've been using one for 1 day now and I do like some things about it but I know that I won't keep it. The remote is OK and I really like having a RF remote.

The remote is just a little less configurable than I would like. I'm returning it to Circuit City tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure that I'm going to get the new URC MX-810.
