Ok.
Seems simple. but i've tried everything i can think of.
I setup my new SHARP tv.
Setup my harmony to use it.
I set up "WATCH TIVO" activity.
It turns on the TV, but before it can do anything else, it turns the TV back off.
I know it's sending a 2nd powertoggle command or something because if i click WATCH TIVO, and as soon as the tv comes on, i turn the remote away, the tv stays on.
Additionally, i have no other commands in my activity interfering.
Also, I tried doing "LEARN" the command head2head with original remote, still same issue.
i also tried LEARN NEW COMMAND and named it POWEROFFON and taught it with the original remote. Nope, same thing.
It's as if no matter what I do, the POWER ON command is sending POWERTOGGLE twice.
If i go into DEVICES in the harmony, it turns on/off the tv using powertoggle flawlessly.
If i go to POWER OFF it turns it OFF
If i go to POWER ON it turns it ON, then 1 second later, OFF. That just doesnt make sense.
So I thought i was smart. Since POWER OFF turns off the tv fine, and turns ON the tv fine in DEVICES, I picked up my SONY av3000, taught it the POWER OFF command, made sure it worked fine, then used it to teach the Harmony the new POWEROFFON command that i created.
This is going to work right?
ugh... no... Still it turns ON, then OFF the tv. How? It makes absolutely no sense to me, but hopefully it does to you remote control guru's out there!

I'm so frustrated. This was working fantastic with my previous RCA TV.
btw, i have setup a brand new activity, same thing happens on new activity using TIVO or DVR or DVD player activities, so it matters not which activity is used, the bottom line is that when you use ACTIVITY mode and that activity turns on the TV, it does turn it on, but then within 1 second or so, it turns the tv back off.

Any good ideas out there???? Thanks.

When you learned the new commands did you go into the power options on the tv and change it there? If you only changed the commands in device mode that won't affect what the activity is sending.

Did you try the power on commands for the other devices to see if any of them are interfering with the TV?

Try reducing the number of repeats.

Thanks for the info.
I think i understand your statement, and i do think i have it covered.

The way i altered it was to go into the SHARP TV under devices, then choose LEARN INFRARED COMMANDS, then add my new command and use remote2remote to learn it. Then I went into POWER SETTINGS and changed the command to my new one.

I only have TIVO on my test activity, and it is set to stay on always. I did test my others though, DVR, DVD, nothing. The kicker, remember, is that if i send the POWER OFF command in device mode, it powertoggles ONCE, perfectly. But as soon as i learn that POWER OFF command and send it as an activity command, ....no good, it sends it twice. It's as if the Harmony has a bug that sends the command used to turn ON the device, no matter what it is, ...twice.

I reduced the repeats down to 2, then 1, then 0, still, the powertoggle is getting sent twice. ugh.

Please keep up with any ideas!
Thanks... Jme.

Check your device list. Maybe you have another "similar" TV (that you forgot to delete). It will turn off ALL unused devices.

Jlet... thanks.
I removed all other tv's from my device list, and i went thru each one to be sure their power on, power off, and powertoggle commands did not effect the tv.
Still... the problem continues.
I slept on it (not the actual remote, just the overall problem. haha).....

I then tried removing all tv's again, and adding a different model sharp tv hoping that it might cure the problem if the problem is infact a bug in the code somehow specifically related to this model tv and its downloaded commandset.
Guess what? That works!
I dont know how that could be the case... but I chose the LC-37DB5U model tv, downloaded it's setup to the harmony....voila. Now, this works even better because this model has discrete commands for INPUT1,2,3,4,5... and it works great, not INPUTNEXT, INPUTNEXT, etc.

Finally.

Thanks for everyone's ideas.... hopefully this thread will help someone else in the future.

btw... i did open up a case with support just so hopefully they'll fix the problem with the LC-40c37u model command set for future users.

It's also possible that it would have worked even if you added back the same model. Sometimes a particular device just gets fubar'd and needs to be deleted and added again.

Yep, it's possible, but i did add a 2nd SHARP tv device as a test, prior to trying the new model idea. Same problem. tks!
Thanks... Jme.
