What's the best way to set-up Zone 2 using a Denon receiver/tuner, cable box, and airport? The main room with a TV and equipment is Zone 1. Two offices and an exercise room are Zone 2. I want to be able to listen to and control the radio, itunes, and cable music in the second zone, while doing something different, or nothing at all in the main room.

I've been able to do this with other remotes, but can't think of a simple way to do it with the harmony.

Any ideas would be great!

Thanks.

Well it's simple if nothing is being done in Zone 1, just pick your Zone 2 activity. But if something is hapenning in Zone 1 and the Harmony was used to initiate that activity it will most likely want to shut down devices not used in Zone 2 when you initiate.

If an activity is active in Zone 1 you would have to go through devices in order to power on and get the equipment to the settings that you want. This way it does not affect smart state and the Zone 1 activity would be left as is. Most likely would be kind of cumbersome though. One other alternative is to pickup a second Harmony dedicated to Zone 2. Some of the older models can be had pretty cheap.

You could essentially set up Zone 2 as a separate receiver and program the codes for Zone 2 separately from Zone 1. One activity would be using Zone 1. Another activity would be Zone 2. If you want to use both Zone 1 and Zone 2, you set up another activity where both receivers are on and you select inputs for both receivers either separately or independently, I guess determined by how you set things up. (Alternatively you could program buttons to turn Zone 2 on and off when Zone 1 is on).

I have Zone 2 on a Denon receiver set up as a second receiver but only use it to control a bathroom speaker, so I don't try to control the input. I just control the volume.
