I am thinking about buying the Harmony 525 as it is in the UK but could be the 520 in the US. I have a Marantz 5000 AV reciever with a busted remote control which is no longer available. so looking for the above as a replacement. What I want to know is can i adjust the relative output levels of a surround sound system with the harmony 525 and if so how easy is it. If not what model if any do I need in order to do this.
just moved to new house with new room and new acoustics etc also hence why busted remote, but that is another story. The sound does not sound right and I need to change the settings very soon as it is very frustrating.
thanks in advance
Jules

Assuming the IR profile in the harmony database has all the original commands (it should) it will work perfectly. Or if it doesn't but you know someone with the right Pronto codes then logitech can add those codes to your account.
The way the harmony devices work is that every known command is in the database and available via the scrolling LCD screen. Those commands can also be mapped to the hard or LCD buttons in an activity. But for the device itself you'll have access to all the commands (even if it's 100 or more).

Thanks for that The Amp is in the profile as I have registered and done the demo with the software but I want to know if other people have controlled the individual volume levels of their AV amp not just specifically the Maratntz. I assume that if it can do other amps it will do mine. All reviews I have read about the harmony is about changing channels or inputs or surround modes for watching a DVD but not actually setting up surround levels.
Can Anyone help

The harmony can do ANYTHING the original remote can do as long as all the original remote commands are in the database or they can be taught from the original remote OR sent to support as Pronto hex codes.
If those functions weren't on the original remote then it's possible but doubtful that they're in the harmony database.
The way it works is when you're in an activity (watch DVD e.g.) you can set up any of the hard buttons or LCD buttons to send any command for any device. So you can put the commands to change surround modes on any of the buttons and use them while in Watch a DVD activity.

I control the individual surround speaker levels with my Harmony remote. On my Yamaha it is a little tricky though. You first have to select which speaker with one command and then use the up, down command on another key to increment the level. If you do not sequence the keys just right it gets screwed up and the incorrect speaker gets adjusted.
For this reason I originally had a separate activity to automatically adjust the center speaker level +/- 3 db. I used the start up "macro" capability to issue multiple command to do this.
I later used the "learn in raw mode" to teach the multiple individual key strokes as a single command ( was a little tricky to do) so that I could put this +/- 3 db command on an custom "individual key" within each activity.
Hope that helps
