Hey guys I just purchased the Harmony 550. I am having a few problems with it though. First of all I am having problems with my Digital Cable box.
It's under Bellsouth and after I configured it online (triple check the model number). When the remote turns it on under the "Watch TV" activity it flickers the box on and quickly off. I have tried to reconfig it a few time to no success.
Also the onscreen guide navigation is much slower than my previous remote. the cursor and the guide scrolling is noticably slower than before.
And lastly when the TV comes on it flickers a bit before it stays on. Something it didn't do before.
Am I doing something wrong or is this one broken? Thanks for the help.

For the power on problem, go into device mode and try the power commands (there may be several labeled on, off, power, powertoggle, etc. so try anything that looks like a power command). Sounds like you have a toggle. If it works in device mode then check the power setup for the box and make sure it's using that command and that the other options are correct (toggle vs. discrete, etc.). If it does the same thing in device mode try relearning the power command(s) in RAW mode.
To speed up navigation try decreasing the number of repeats and the inter-key delay. You may also need to reduce the inter-device delay but that will affect everything and could cause problems so try that last.
Not sure about the flicker - probably due to the other devices powering on.

Yeah I went into to the device mode and on and off both flicker the box but nothing turns it on and off. And in Help Mode I have to hit "No" when it asks me if the box is on like 8 times for it to turn on. What do you mean by power commands in RAW mode..sorry I am new to this type of remote.

Under the device you'll find a link to Learn Infrared Commands. At the bottom of the page click Custom and you'll find 2 options: Learn and Learn RAW. Learn takes the command and compares it to a database of known commands and if it finds a match it uses the known command. Learn RAW takes the command as it sees it and uses it as is. Sometimes the processed commands don't work and you have to use Learn RAW. But make sure the button on the OEM remote works as expected before learning it.

Great. Learning the commands RAW was the way to go. As far as the inter-key delay what do you think I should set it too?
BTW thanks again for the help I appreciate it.

Set is as low as possible and raise it up slowly if you encounter problems.
