Is it possible to customize the MEDIA button to bring up the LIST of recorded shows on a SA8300HD PVR? Or if I called up Logitech support, do they have the ability to "force" the MEDIA button to act like a regular custom button that can send a command to the cable box?
Other alternative would be to use the MEDIA button to bring up two macro options - one to select the LIST of recorded shows and the second to send it back to LIVE shows.

No - the media button can't be customized to send an IR command. You'd have to add that button to the LCD or map it to one of the other hard buttons.
