Czzer told you how to do it twice, and I told
you once. I guess the 4th time is the charm:

Thank you for being polite. After re-reading both of Czzer's posts, as well as yours, I see the light. How could I have missed it? Well, I am going to try it tonight...will report back with my results.

In all seriousness, I think I needed a kick in the @ss. Thanks, for your sensitivity.

I know this is probably a big imposition, but would it be possible to get a step-by-step breakdown on to actually perform this programming...

With much thanks to Czzer and akirby, I got it. Here you go, my friend:

First go through the setup wizard like akirby said above. Here is the button sequence:

When you want to switch to DOLBY DIGITAL:

PVR "Settings" command is sent to the PVR
PVR "Settings" command is sent to the PVR
PVR "DirectionDown" command is sent to the PVR
PVR "DirectionDown" command is sent to the PVR
PVR "DirectionRight" command is sent to the PVR
PVR "Select" command is sent to the PVR
PVR "Exit" command is sent to the PVR

When you want to switch back to HDMI:

PVR "Settings" command is sent to the PVR
PVR "Settings" command is sent to the PVR
PVR "DirectionDown" command is sent to the PVR
PVR "DirectionDown" command is sent to the PVR
PVR "DirectionRight" command is sent to the PVR
PVR "DirectionUp" command is sent to the PVR
PVR "Select" command is sent to the PVR
PVR "Exit" command is sent to the PVR

Re-read post #2 for instructions on getting to the screen where you can add the extra commands.

Yes, and thank you again.

With this knowledge I can add a few more tweaks to the system...

Can't thank you enough...

That's just it. I don't want to have the leave
the audio receiver on all the time. The wife really
doesn't need to watch her soap operas all with
my AV receiver on. She much prefers just listening
to the audio over the TV's speakers.

When I listen to programming, I sometimes prefer
to hear it in DD (i.e., The Sopranos; HD movies,
etc.). This is why I want to have an alternate
set up to use...

I have a similar setup: I have an HDMI connection between the SA8300HD and my LCD TV and an optical between the SA8300HD and the receiver. I also have 2 activities, 1 to watch TV and 1 to watch TV with receiver turned on, however I did not have to do anything additional. I believe the audio on the optical out is always sent by the SA8300HD. Am I wrong?
