I have an onkyo ipod dock that is connected to my onkyo receiver. The ipod dock has RI capability whereby using the onkyo remote, I can control the IPOD to play, pause, next track, etc.

I want to add the IPOD as a "Listen to IPOD" activity. However, when I did go through the process, I noticed that on the ONKYO remote, I have to switch remote functions. In other words, if I want to control the IPOD, I have to press (MD, CDR, TAPE, etc) that corresponds to what the IPOD is connected. It isn't just what the IPOD is "inputted" to... Furthermore, there doesn't seem to be a way to program that one function, telling the Harmony 880 to function under a different remote command?

Anyone have any suggestions or comments that I can try?

To assign a different IR language command set to a device, select "Confirm infrared commands" under device "More Options".

If you can't find the ipod dock already in the database and the ipod commands aren't already in the Onkyo device, just learn them from the Onkyo remote.

The reason you need to press the extra button is so that the Onkyo remote knows to send the Ipod Play command instead of the DVD or VCR play command. Most OEM remotes work this way. You don't need to learn that extra button press. Just press the button to put the OEM remote into ipod mode and then learn the play, ff, rew buttons as part of your Onkyo receiver or as a new device.

I went through this wizard and it doesn't seem to work.

Going through the process, it asks me to press the power toggle.
-I don't have a power toggle. It's an ON and STANDBY.

Going through the process, it asks me to press the *input button.
-I'm presuming they are asking to press (MD, CDR, CD, DVD) one of those. Unfortunately, I don't think the remote needs to send IR to change the function of the remote so it can't be learned.

There goes this one.

This works! Thanks this is great!
