Hello, this is a great forum. I set up my new harmony 880 tonight. Wow this is a pretty impressive remote. I am only encountering 1 problem. If any of you intellligent people could help I would be much appreciated.

The problem is when i try to use the menu control of my tv through the device button. We like to use the tv menu to select position. Some of the news channel and espn tickers get cut in half so we like to use the position to move the picture down so you see it all. Anyways, when I select device then tv I get the tv commands ok. Then I push the menu button and the tv menu displays correctly. But when I try to use the cursor (up, down, left, right) a problem occurs. When I try to scroll down to select position, it takes the tv off component 1 input and adds a 9 each subsequent time I push the down cursor. The tv's blue display box then just says cable and adds a 9 or 99 etc and it goes to that channel which is static. I have my tv hooked up to component 1 with a hd cable box. I then hit help and it sets it back to component 1 and everything is fine. Is there anyway I can get the tv menu to work properly? If you could explain what I need to do I would be grateful. Thanks for any help in advance.

I see 3 possibilities:
1) The Direction Down key is mapped to command "9" instead of the "DirectionDown" command.
Check the device key mapping under "More Options > Customize the Device, Sound, and Picture commands for this TV".
2) The key mapping is ok but the "DirectionDown" command is wrong.
Solution: Relearn the "DirectionDown" command from the original remote.
3) Defective 880 unit - Somehow, the Direction Down key is shorted to the 9 key.
Check if it also do that in Activity mode.

Thanks for the help jlet. It turned out the "direction down" was wrong. Relearning the regular "direction down" didn't help. I had to relearn the "direction down" RAW command from the original remote. Thanks again for the help.
