I have read that there are problems with "a certain percentage" of these 880's where the connectivity with the base and the remote doesn't work too well? Is there anyway to tell if you have one of those devices by the version of the hardware? In other words, is there like a version 3 release or indication that this specific remote is the latter versions where they corrected it?

Some posts in other threads say that the base contacts are smaller on the newer (fixed) version, etc. The bottom line is that if you are having charging problems, contact support and get a new base. My falty base M/N is L-LG7.

Ahh... Does anyone want to check their base to see what you have in terms of the M/N?

I used to have troubles with my base until I received a new style from tech support. I haven't had a single problem in weeks! The original had a PID#LZ533B106BD and the replacement PID#LZ541BG008S . The contacts are smaller, sharper, and have less spring tension. The decreased spring tension appears to allow the remote to rest on the cradle instead of the contacts (very effective).
