Hi ALL,

I know this has been asked before but is there any easy way around the "feature" of entering some new LCD buttons for a particular device in an activity and then it automatically copies ALL the buttons into the LCD for any activity that has that device.

Specifically I want to add the menu, select and cursor buttons for the TV into all the activities so that I can get to the picture adjustments from each activity. However, in the Watch TV activity those buttons are on the four way rocker and the Ok button so the LCD extra buttons are not needed. But when I went to the Watch Tivo activity and added the extra LCD buttons they also appear in the Watch TV.

Is there any easy way around it? Can tech support do something special to delete those LCD buttons only in the Watch TV activity?

Thanks,
Gerry

What I did was to create a dummy AV Switch device, add it to the activity, and then use my TV/DVD/whatever original remote to teach it the commands I wanted on the LCD screen. I have dummy devices in all of my activities, so that the custom LCD commands for each activity don't propagate to other activities.

A bit of a hassle, but it's an effective workaround.

I was going to tell you to put them on the picture button but the 880 doesn't have a picture button.

In your case you can either create one dummy generic device and teach it the commands, then include it in all activities other than Watch TV. Or you can just include a second copy of your TV device (say it has no power buttons and is always on to avoid conflicts with the regular TV device) and the commands are already there.

Hi ALL,

TOO MUCH WORK!!!!

Actually I called Tech support (amazingly I was connected to a human being almost immediately) and they said that was the way it was designed and even they could not selectively delete LCD commands from one activity only!

I started to set up a generic device, but realized that the only thing it would buy me would be to eliminate some duplicate buttons in the LCD area for the Watch TV activity. So my basic lazyness kicked in and I just used the existing TV device to add the buttons and ended up with the duplicate buttons.

However, I must say that having the buttons automatically copy into the other activities DID save a lot of time. But there should be an option to allow the auto copy or not. That would make it really flexible.

By the way, while I was making some changes I tried to add an "ENTER" command after the Favorite Channels in the TV activity. I created a new command "E" and learned it from the original remote. Then I made the favorite channel something like this: 13.1E Unfortunately it was not accepted. Then I tried to use "-" thinking letters were not allowed, but that didn't work either.

I sent an e-mail to Tech Support asking them to add the "ENTER" as they did that for me once before!

Thanks,
Gerry

They know and already have that on their developer's wish list.
