I'm trying to get a friend's 880 configured for him, and something odd keeps happening. While testing everything after getting the 880 loaded up w/ programming, it'll just randomly black out on me. I'll shake it a bit, thinking that maybe it just went to sleep on me, but nothing. Finally after about 30-45 seconds, it wakes back up.
I've never messed with this thing before...are the friggin batteries just going dead???

Take the battery out, give it a light shake, wait a few minutes then put battery back in.

I had a similar problem. The likely cause is poor contact (insufficient tension) against the battery terminals. A temporary solution is to take out the battery and place a small piece of foam rubber at the bottom of the battery (opposite end from the terminals). Attach it with a small piece of scotch tape. That should increase the tension and improve contact. The more permanent solution is a replacement 880.
