Being tired of the clutter on my coffee table I was looking for the right solution.
If I had to choose, which would be better? Is the 520 missing anything from the 688 which accounts for the price difference.

Yes, compared to the 6xx series, the 520 is missing a few things. Do a "search" on the "520". For example, see post 2 of this thread: " [Link: remotecentral.com]".

I'd recommend a 659 or 680 over the 688 - the buttons are better.
