I just picked one of these up yesterday at Walmart and really like it. I have two questions for you experts:
1) When a DVR program finishes recording, the DVR shuts off. Any thoughts? I'm using the Comcast (motorola) HD DVR unit.
2) I read about the backlight issues in this forum. I don't know if my motion sensor is working because the blue light around the 'activities' button is always on...so is the activities window (but not as bright as when I push 'glow'. Is this normal? I would think these lights staying on will eat batteries quickly.

Thanks in advance.

From an earlier thread discussing the 520 backlight, I had understood that a software update had resolved the issue of the backlight staying on constantly.

Hopefully, someone who has already resolved this will provide an update.

Previous discussion is at....

DVR - change the set-up to have the DVR 'always on', or use discrete on and off commands (instead of toggle on/off).

Dave, I had an issue with the backlight staying on. They sent me a replacement unit. I don't think the 520 has a motion sensor, however my old unit that the backlight stayed on sure behaved like it did. If you walked by it, the light would come on. The replacement unit they sent doesn't do that. After reading this I am not sure if it was the new remote or when I updated it that fixed it. I bought it in early October and it took about 3 weeks before they sent me the unit. Maybe they fixed the "bug" in the meantime. Just remeber to set the backlight timer. Logitech told me thats what it was about 3 times before I convinced them that I had set it properly and that was not the problem. By the way I had to send the old unit back to Canada, what a pain besides the cost.

Thanks for the info guys - I'll try the 'never turn off the DVR' tonight.
Regarding the backlight issue...
I don't know what the standard operating modes are (apparently). The light around my 'activities' button never goes off. When I press 'glow' all the lights come on and the dimmed activity screen gets brighter. I have it set up to turn off 'glow' after 5 seconds. After 5 seconds, the bright blue light around the 'activities' button is still on and the activity screen is dimmed (but still on).
So...is mine working right? I have the latest firmware and software (as I just bought the thing on Sunday and was forced to download everything upon installation).

Thanks again.

Just got home - when I connected the remote to set 'DVR always on' the site installed Firmware 2.1 - no more backlight problem. Thanks for your prompt responses.
