I just got a 680 and I would like to know if it is possible to set my Sony Wega to turn OFF TV speakers and also turn off my CC(I usually have them on due to hearing loss but when viewing dvd I prefer the CC on the disc) when I turn on my dvd activity ,which turns on my Onkyo dsr 787 receiver and Go Video dvd player.I presently have to go to my tv menu/audio/speaker on/ off setting and then I have to go to tv menu/settings/CC1 on/off.It would be nice to somehow incorporate these functions into my dvd activity button. Also is there a good alternate use for the media button? Can I program it to show my tivo menu?I have searched the website database as well as d/l latest s/w.I really appreciate any kind of feedback.

You can add commands to the beginning of any activity to do anything to any of the devices. So......yes to that. But no to remapping the media button.

If you re-run the activity wizard, at the end it asks if you want to add additional commands, and you can then select any command from any device in the activity to add to the beginning or end of the activity. I would suggest that whatever commands you send at the beginning, you reverse at the end of the activity - for example, if you have a Watch TV activity that requires speakers off and CC on, you add commands to do that to the beginning of the activity, and you add commands to turn the speakers back on and CC back off at the end of the activity - that way the activity is "self-enclosed" and doesn't make any settings wrong for other activities.
Note that most Sony TVs support the discrete command to toggle the internal speakers on/off, so sending that one command will replace the menu navigation commands for the speaker - look for the command in the list available to you for the TV. If the TV speaker toggle isn't available in your device configuration, email support and ask them to add it - I've pasted the discrete command hex code below for their reference if you do indeed need to have them add it. The CC on/off may still need to utilize a series of commands as I'm not aware of a discrete command for it in Sony's language.
IR Code for TV Speaker toggle (some have found that utilizing this command followed by Menu works best):
0000 0067 0000 000d 0060 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 03f2

To add commands to the beginning of an activity, you select "Yes, but I want to configure more" at the end of the setup wizard for that activity. (You rerun the activity setup wizard to get to that menu.)

Yes, ideally two would be best, but as long as you undo at the end of the activity whatever you do at the beginning of the activity, you shouldn't have to worry about it being a toggle and ending up in the wrong state.

First I would like to thank you guys for all the input.I solved my problem.Secondly ,I would add that the speaker toggle worked like a charm. It is a toggle on at beginning of activity then it toggles off at the end.I had to add 8 or 9 commands to cycle through all my CC options so I have written to logitech to see if I can go back as opposed to forward on the toggle.(I have to go CC1,CC2 etcto get to OFF,then I just toggle 1 more command to on at the end of activity,to get back to CC1)

That's a function of your TV, not the remote.

How about starting with your TV remote and owner's manual - see if it tells you how to go backwards through the toggles. If not, check the list of IR commands in the harmony for your TV and see if any of them will toggle backwards. If not, then you can't do it.
If there is one button on the OEM remote for doing this then it's doubtful you can go backwards.

i too have a wega and I would like to turn off my tv sound when watching a cd but the techs say there are too many clicks to handle this function so I must go into the screen and click through the menu to do so..I tried to add a speaker toggle command at the beginning and end of the CD activity to no avail...

Please people - just use the receiver for sound ALL THE TIME. It's not worth the hassle to switch back and forth just to get inferior sound part of the time. The harmony handles everything for you so it's very convenient.

Please help me understand why using the receiver is a problem for your hearing impairment. The receiver should have clearer sound, and after all it does have a volume control. If you turn up the center channel you can actually get lower volume from the other speakers while still being able to hear the dialogue.
It just seems to me that the receiver would offer cleaner, clearer sound at the same volume and would therefore benefit those with hearing issues. Is it because we've grown accustomed to the TV speakers?
