I have a "handed down" AST laptop that has an IR eye for transmitting code to other computers so equiped. This function is currently not working on my laptop. Does anyone know about this device, or, where to get info on it? could it be interfaced with my Pronto software to test grids and commands?

If you are using Windows 95 or 98, the CD most likely has the driver a for it. If not you can try their website to see if its available for download " WWW.AST.COM".

Under W95, you may have to install the W95 IrDA drivers first. If you are running W98 or ME, it should recognize the IR port upon installation of the operating system. Once the IR port is known to Windows, it installs an icon in your Control Panel to set options. If you have that icon, open it and see if IR communication is enabled.
